Interesting

Foot slipped off the clutch into the down shift, said screw it, and put her back into 5th at about 50mph, and rolled into about 75% throttle. They were at WOT. Turbo>NA

Big difference, the N/A 2.3 is a ford engine, the F/I 2.3 is made in japan, different internals, different injectors, basically everything but the chassis is different

Re: Interesting

.... regardless of "where" they were manufactured, i assumed that they were mostly the same engine similar to the 4g63 and 4g63t. one has forged internals and is setup for boost, the other just plain isn't. Am i incorrect cassie?

Couldn't see much. Cassie, you would love it here. I swear, if I threw a stone out the window odds are I woud hit a MS6 or MS3. They are EVERYWHERE around here. And if that is not enough, the rest of the people drive BMW's lol. Next most common sport car to that around here has to be the Porsche Caymenne (SP?).

Wrong. The 2.3L NA in the 2.3 Mazda3 was developed by Mazda, not Ford. Development was aided by Ford, but the MZR series of motors was a spin off of the Mazda B Series. Mazda was the first to use the MZR engine, which was then taken by Ford and sold as the Duratec 20 and 23. The Zeta Zetec, the original motor in the Focus, was dropped in favor of the Mazda motor. However, even at that point, the motors are not built on the same line together. The motor used in the Ford Foci is heche in Me He Co. The entire Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 platform is manufactured and assembled in Japan (not on the same assembly lines as the Focus, another common mistake).

So, if you want to be technical, than Sleeper awd is right. The USDM Focus uses a Mazda engine, the Mazda does not use a Focus engine. However, the motor in the Focus is not built alongside the 2.3L used in the Mazda3.

The only Mazda vehicles manufactured in the US are the Tribute, the current gen B Series Pickup, and the USDM Mazda6 (the Mazdaspeed6 is built in Japan).

As far as chasis goes, my car has more in common with the Euro Spec Focus than the USDM focus. The C1 platform is a global platform, but the Mazdaspeed3 shares more components with the Volvo and Euro Focus.

Re: Interesting

Ahh see new info, I knew the MS3 engine was developed in japan didnt know if that was the same for the Mazda 3 as well. I already knew the Mazdaspeed 6 and mazda 6 engines were designed and assembled in different places did know that both the mazdaspeed and normal 3 were designed and built in japan.

Awsome for mazda cause I know the Mazdaspeed protege was a bored out escort with a turbo which sucked cause they were cast rods and heads instead of forged.

Re: Interesting

escorts were 2.0l motors in dohc and sohc. How are they bored out if the displacement didnt change? Did the alter the stroke?? The older ones were 1.8dohc and 1.9 pushrod deals. But those were ugly.
