95 neon valve help plzzzzzzz
95 sohc moter blew a timing belt. yes i know.....valves gotta be bent.
After removing the head, the valves were un touched (did happy dance) no marks on valves or pistons and valves were all seating nice. UH OH.......test run....#2 cylinder is dead under 2000rpm. better check valves again....... Heres the part thats throws me valves seat wonderfully, however...#2 cylinder exhaust valves open and close at diff times.....one opens sooner than other and closes sooner than other......both run of 1 cam lobe, but have 2 rockers.......dodge guy( waist of time) said wow(smak the dodge tech) maybe you distroyed a valve lash adjuster.......hows that work i asked....."dunno" said the drooling highly paid moron. ![]() im getting ready to repace the valves just in case, however,,,,,can the valves moving out of sync cause no compression only at low rpm? replaced plug, wire,coil,injector.....only thing left is the valve or rocker.......any help would rock... ty Godsez |

Re: 95 neon valve help plzzzzzzz
I would think the the valves moving out of sync would cause low compression at any RPM.
I have heard of SOHC engines being OK after snapping a timing belt. Mine however was not OK.

Re: 95 neon valve help plzzzzzzz
before removing the head today, i remover the rocker assemblt (exhuast) and the hydrolic tappits where toast on #2 cylinder.....small repair kit from dodge and she runs smooth again. (seals and little rotating cap thingydoohickys)
It would seem that when tyming belt locked up (water pump froze) the valves slapped the rockers.....i guess....hmmm....any way the were a mess. And yes......65 mph, belt broke,no valve damage........god of no money for better car was watching over me ty for your input GoDsEz |
