Highcroft Racing updated their website — F1 GTRs shown

Hi, I was browsing Highcroft Racing's website and found that they now have an HQ section, which shows tiny pictures of their (Aaron Hsu's?) racing car collection. I only skimmed the text, so I can't tell if just their website is new or if their website and 'HQ' is new.

I am actually renting a car tomorrow (I live in Manhattan — no car) coincidently so I'm going to try to check it out. From the pics it looks like they're right next to a window from the outside, the only question I guess is whether you can get anywhere near the premises of that window.

The FINA longtail is #21R and was sold a while back to Christian Glasel - it now lives in Europe or the UK I would assume.

The Gulf GTR is #12R and has been back over in the UK for quite some time now.

I think you will come up empty handed as far as the F1s go, but Highcroft's showroom may have some other impressive treats as referenced in past photographs. Good luck!

Re: Highcroft Racing updated their website — F1 GTRs shown

Thanks for filling me in — I read the responses before I left and didn't get my hopes up too high. From the Google satellite view I didn't think there was a gate but there in fact was. It was open for some sort of private event so I went in but couldn't get very close. There were a few well-dressed people standing around Bentleys and a Rolls Phantom so I didn't even get out of the car! That blue glass is very heavily tinted and I could only make out one car — a white 96 or 97 Porsche 911 GT1, parked right where the longtail GTR was parked in the website photos. F1s or no F1s, I'd love to get into that showroom but wasn't going to be the day.

I'll probably try emailing Highcroft to see if there's any chance I could have a look during a weekday or something (who knows, hopefully they aren't just like McLaren!). Why would they boast such an impressive museum showroom on their website if it's forbidden to everyone? Oh yeah, to impress sponsors. Just like McLaren.

Today wasn't a total bust; I had a great day of driving and managed to look at a Porsche 959 in nearby White Plains, which is a first for me.

I've been in the northeast for about two years and as the spring approaches (sigh, eventually this cold weather will end) I'm thinking about ways I can see more F1s locally this year. I saw 007 in Massachusetts and 014 in Manhasset last year. I went to the Lime Rock Historics, which was excellent but unfortunately GTR-less.

In addition to the shows I went to in '07, I'll definitely be attending the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance this year, and there is also a Manhattan Concours happening in late summer (it last happened in 2005). Does anyone know if Ralph Lauren has displayed LM3 since taking ownership of it? Or if the Gary Schaevitz cars are ever spotted anywhere? Or if there's any other events I'm missing?

Really? I've been there 3 times in the past 4 years (i couldn't make it last year) and 017R has always been there

Did you see the SWB and 330LMB while you were there?

Where did you hear this? I haven't heard anything. Last time it happened, a lot went wrong. The turnout was great but it wasn't gonna happen again for a while

I was at Lime Rock for only one day, so I could be wrong, but from what I saw BMW only brought an M1 Procar, a 1980s junior formula car, a 3.0 CSL, and some E24 and E30 GT cars. I scoured Flickr in the days that followed the event to see if anyone had seen the GTR there, on any day, and still have never seen it photographed there in 2007. I have heard that BMW North America has scaled back the Mobile Tradition program significantly after 2006, and as a result, their GTR and V12 LM were seen a lot less in 2007.

I saw the SWB, but the 330 was under a cover.

I just missed the 2005 event, so since then I've been trying to follow it. It does sound a bit shakey — this website had a 2007 date at the top early last year and then all of the sudden it changed to a 2008 date without explanation! Let's hope it sticks this time.

Re: Highcroft Racing updated their website — F1 GTRs shown

Hey, does anyone have the older high res pics that were taken from the top level over the guardrails of the longtail fina gtr, the jag, and etc. ? I used to have them all from supercars.net, but my old hard drive died. Thanks
