How do I set default for My Pictures?
Well call m a procrastinator if you want , but I finally hooked up my scanner and have started to scan hundreds of slides from my father dating from the 1940's to the '80s. One problem that I have that is annoying is when I am satisfied with the scanned picture , I save it to a new folder I created in "My Pictures" labeled "Scanned pictures". When I do that it automatically wants to save it in a different format other than jpeg. How do I set the default save to jpeg format? I've searched on Google for an answer with no results, so I'm hoping someone here may know the answer. Thank you.
Oh yeah, I'm running XP if that helps.

Re: How do I set default for My Pictures?
I'm guessing that there would probably be some settings in the scanning software that you are using that would allow you to set the default folder and file type.

you might want to mention the scanner brand and model number, if it's a twain scanner there's a lot of compatible freeware out there that will do just what you want.

Re: How do I set default for My Pictures?
Sorry, I forgot to include that bit of info. It's a Canon Canoscan 8400F.It came bundled with ArcSoft Photo Studio which is what I'm using to scan the slides, and it also came with Adobe Photoshop Elements which I may try to use tomorrow and see how different the two programs are.
I thought I read an article a few years back that showed you how to set a default setting when saving photos to your computer where you could pre-determine the file type you wanted by selecting the option in some menu on your computer?
