'96 Continental alarm problem

Hey Y'all,
The alarm on my '96 Continental went off any time it wanted to making my sleeping neighbors very unhappy at 3:00 am and embarassing me at social gatherings. My mechanic replaced the driver door switch, adjusted the glove box switch, checked the hood switch twice and couldn't find any reason for the alarm to go off.
About a year later a notice was sent to all mechanics that a small "tab" was bending slightly in the trunk lock mechanism causing the problem. The mechanic was not willing to adjust the tab the few millimeters that was required and sent me to the dealer. The dealer's shop refused to repair only the trunk tab without a thorough check of all other possible problems. I left without any repair work being done because the dealer informed me that when the alarm went off again they could verify the problem with the car's computer record of the last "8 events".
When I stopped "popping" the trunk open with the remote, the car alarm stopped going off unexpectedly.
