1/24th Mini Marcos

Spotted this on the net, but the page was in japanese and there was no contact info, so i am posting these photo's to see if anyone know where i can get hold of this kit, not sure if it's resin or not, looks like you need the Tamiya mini to complete the model.

Hope someone can put me in the right direction.

Re: 1/24th Mini Marcos

Not 100% sure, but i think that Scalekraft made this transkit. Sadly they are out of business and their kits are practically unobtainable.

Re: 1/24th Mini Marcos

Hey!

I found quite a few links to Japanese modellers sites with pictures of Marcos, Mini Jem, even Unipower 1/24 kits on them! Nothing for sale unfortunately. One site mentions that they bought their Marcos kit in 1996, so it's probably long out of production. Sigh.

The manufacturer was listed as K Models on a couple sites, who are also J-Top and Joker24, to the best of my knowledge. I believe Joker24 is the most recent incarnation of the company, but think they've shut down too...I've been trying to find their Cortina Mk.I kit for ages. In any case, Joker24 kits are rarely found outside of Japan, as they get snapped up by collectors.

Just for the record, I have a list of Scalekraft kits from late 2005, it doesn't mention Mini Marcos, but that doesn't mean they didn't make one. It does list a Broadspeed Mini GT (a fastback Mini), which would be super cool! Anyone got one for sale???

If anyone turns up a reliable source of Mini Marcos resin kits for sale, please let me know!

Re: 1/24th Mini Marcos

Hi,
The two pics you have are of different models, your first pic is of a 1966 LeMans car, note the No.50 decals and the night lights on the door and rear roof section.

Your second pic is of a road going car. This one is from K.Models from their Joker 1/24 range, It originally sold for 6900 Yen.

The kit consists of a body shell and chassis, dash board, seats, fuel tank, fuel cap, a bonnet, rear lamp assemblies, rear brakes all moulded in white/cream resin, there is also a top dash rail and engine bay inner wings moulded in black, clear plastic for all the windows and some 2mm rod to extend the exhaust as the Marcos has a longer wheelbase than the standard Mini.

All other parts are taken from the Tamiya kit.

It came with 5 pages of detailed instructions in Japanese with hand drawings that included codes for painting with Tamiya paints.

Hope this helps,
TMG

Re: 1/24th Mini Marcos

You can always look here...

http://www.bidders.co.jp/

I've found Joker kits listed on this site before, but have no idea how to buy them! As I mentioned before, you're unlikely to find much outside of Japan, as the kits are keenly sort after by local collectors.

Good luck though...I'll be looking too!

Hehe...true! Of course, you can always use Google Language Tools to translate, but some of the translation's require a vivid imagination.

Yahoo Auctions is another place I've seen Joker kits listed...but again, registering to purchase requires Japanese text. Sigh.

We'll both have to wait. Nevermind.

From what I can read, you can't bid there...Must be a resident of Japan (or at least have an address) to be able to register.
Yahoo auctions jp on the other hand, doesn't seem to have this restriction. The real problem will be contacting the seller before placing a bid, to see if s/he is willing to sell overseas. I just checked and the only 2 sellers that are selling joker 1/24 kits are "iris458ma" & "jokinion3" with a total of 5 kits, none of them being the mini-marcos.

Re: 1/24th Mini Marcos

If it is of any help to your searching, the Japanese term for Mini Marcos is " ミニ・マーコス "

Re: 1/24th Mini Marcos

There is a kit for sale on Yahoo Auctions Japan at the moment. You'll need a Japanese contact as the seller doesn't ship internationally.

Check out http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n57199381

Hope this helps,

Re: 1/24th Mini Marcos

In Fact there are 2 versions of the Mini Marcos Kit, the one listed above and the 1966 LeMans version, http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u22880064

There is also a Mini Jem, http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f59979224

and a Unipower GT, http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e74133584

So you have lots to choose from
