95 riviera S/C "rocks" sound doing idle in park sometimes and always in D

just bought 1995 riviera and it sounds like rocks in it. the sound comes around the torque converter. hoping there isnt really any other problem with it.

Worst-case scenario is; it could be a cracked flex-plate. You better hope it is something less! It could just be a loose torque converter bolt, or one that has come out. Better remove the TC shield and inspect ASAP!

well mostly can hear it under 2k rpms. so that is leading me to think torque convertor.

Have you checked the harmonic balancer? When the rubber isolator between the outer ring & inner ring separates, this will make a clanging (rock type) sound from the front of the engine. It will sound like it is coming from every part of the engine. Put your hands on the balancer and see if you can rock the outer ring back & forth. You may have to loosen & set aside the belts for best results.
