Stupid alternator! We need help

Can any one tell us how to get this alternator off! Don't see a slide bracket and tried to move it forward to get off the belt and all we did was turn to alternator wheel. Can't hardly see much under there. We need to get this thing done ASAP! We looked at a chilton manual and it made little sense. The alternator came with directions only they claim there is two types. One with the bracket and one with out. For all we can tell there is not a slide bracket. I have a 1996 Plymouth Neon, dual overhead cam, with air. Thanks!!!!

Re: Stupid alternator! We need help

There is an adjustment nut on the top part of the alternator. You will need to loosen that (do not take off) and then you will need to loosen the pivot bolt (do not take off) to take the belt off.

Then you will need to remove the 3 mounting bolts.
