Nismo 400R

Hello fellow forumers. I bought this Nismo 400R kit from SAS a couple years ago but never got started on it being intimidated by what I had to do to get the parts to fit the Tamiya R33 body. Anyway, I decided a few months ago to give it a go but only got as far as the body kit, painting and decals. I did all this before I purchased my Sony Camera so not able to show the beginning of the body kit prep. Anyway, Here is some pics of progress so far.

Re: Nismo 400R

Nice start, I think this was one of the best colours available on the 400R. Have you got a set of Nismo LM-GT1s?

Re: Nismo 400R

Excellent work so far.
I too have that transkit shitting on the shelf next to the R33.
Just might have to pull it down and give it a go.

Keep up the great work.

That sounded funny.

I didn't get an engine for it yet because I was only doing a fast build but if I decide to put in the engine, I'm sure I'll get that hood off with no problem.

And yes, I have the Nismo wheels and all the other Nismo parts before SAS stop making them. I was lucky I guest to get them being a real Nismo fan.

The "Nismo 400R" and the "Ferrari 288GTO" is probably my 2 favorite cars on the planet. Both also have 400hp engines.
Hey mn80228, If you ever want to give up your 400R transkit give me a pm. I want to build a black Nismo 400R.

Re: Nismo 400R

Here are more pics

I know the Nismo 400R wheels are usually white w/aluminum lip but I thought I try silver inner portion because this picture of the yellow 400R I thought wheels were silver and I was trying to get that look. Maybe later I will change to white if I can get the original Nismo wheel decals again.

Re: Nismo 400R

Looks great so far. That yellow one looks great in the picture. Becareful painting the rear light that goes across the rear bumper, tends to break. Can't wait to see it, looks better than mine.

Re: Nismo 400R

Do you mean this light? Yeah! She's tricky so I painted on this one. With the Nismo 400R I will do something different with the brake light.
Or do you mean the yellow & white light with Skyline on it?

Re: Nismo 400R

The one with turn signals, long piece. Also when lowering it, i couldn't get the front wheels to turn fully, as the size of the wheels touched the wells.
BTW, how were the decals, as mine were very brittle, and broke several times. Keep us updated.

Re: Nismo 400R

That car you did MidMazar I liked it alot but why didn't you use the Nismo hood? I notice you used wheel sleeves. I actually had my Pegasus wheel sleeves for some time now because the Nismo 400R wheels seem too small. When I saw your wheels in white, they looked so good with the white paint but what do you think about my silver wheels? Thanks for the lowering info. I will shave the inner fenders if that happen. The turn signal piece I broke on a Fujimi R33 kit so I found out what not to do when I did the silver Tamiya R33. Nismo 400R decals were pretty easy for me using the Micro Sol setting solution but on one side the decal broke in half and I moved it back in place. Thay are pretty long and thin so you expect that. I am having a little trouble with painting the black trimming around the outer window. My masking don't seem to be as good as I wanted. I only did one side of window. Will take time for some inspiration, then finish the trimming.

Here are some updates.

Re: Nismo 400R

I didn't use the hood because i cracked it, but now its repaired and in the process rest on top of a r32. Still makes the 400r look like a wannabe.

Re: Nismo 400R

Updates

Should I do the Nismo 400R wheels in white or just leave them as is? Comments welcome.

I am working on exhaust pipe. I think I will use real metal or aluminum for the pipe itself.

I think I will later add an engine because that would make it complete.

Sorry for putting this last picture here. It wasn't necessary to include it.
