Do studded tires affect gas mileage??
I have a 1996 Sable wagon with the 24 valve v-6 and I was wondering if anyone know how studded snow tires affect gas mileage.
It seem that since I put the studded tires on for the winter that my fuel mileage has dropped about 2-3 miles per gallon. Car seems to run fine and not noticeable problems. Any thoughts?? |

Re: Do studded tires affect gas mileage??
Put quite simply, yes they will.
The theory behind it is: The least rolling-resistance a tire has the better the gas mileage. Studded tires will not provide for optimum rolling resistance by the very nature of their design and use. |
