Exclamation Tech help needed if possible

I recently took out my Pioneer 5700 HU. I made the grave mistake in allowing the ACC wire to touch another wire. Needless to say that I damaged my computer. I got that replaced and now im just tryna see if theres anyway I can salvage the HU. Its geting power, you can hear a cd loading but no action. My screen wont move at all. Im think maybe the resistor on the acc wire is blown but im no tech when it comes to this. Help me please!

Cant believe this - maybe fuse was blown? Yes, theyre happy to fabricate stories and then charge fully.

Buy 10$ multimeter - from a shop that can show how voltage is measured. Then measure the voltage between Pioneer's supply/gnd wires, I guess there are at least 2 of them...

Take out fuse after fuse - do swap/tst with a known good one.

Re: Tech help needed if possible

Would this be the case even though my stock radio works perfectly? I have no problems with my stock radio just my tv. Thanks for the help btw.

Re: Tech help needed if possible

If supply connections are same, and original works, then pioneer may be faulty. There may be one fuse blown inside... [same: most stereos need both +Batt and +Acc].

"...can hear a cd loading but no action." - the loading mechanism may jam and system stops and waits? Take a look inside [if warranty is over].

Its not possible to burn ECU by shorting dash wirings. Even by melting/burning/blksmoke... you must access ECU wiring and give direct +12V to sensor inputs to make any damage. I guess this even wont affect it as most inputs are shielded: you need to pour water or 220VAC to kill it.

Short circuits blow fuses = no current flow: this may take down 'any' appliance pwr supply (I guess this was your case?). Fuse may seem ok, but still is bad - try swapping, you can do it. (Big fuses near battery.)

Note that voltage measuring draws minuscle current and in some cases gives healthy reading - still oxidized connectors can supply the current to a device but not to another. This is not probable in this case but not impossible... See http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/14
