What's it worth?

Ok, heres the deal. I have a chance to buy a '99 Passat GLX from the company. It has the V6 and auto trans. It has a sunroof and overall is in nice shape with no rust or dents. It has 115,000 miles and has been maintained. Here is the question. What is it worth? What kind of offer should I make. I see the Passats have problems with oil smells and sensor problems. Recently on a 400 mile trip the car only got 22MPG. Is this standard or are they better on fuel. Any problems I should look for? Thanks.

Re: What's it worth?

I have 99 1.8T 145K, and I usually get 28-32mpg on the highway, and it takes premium gas. 22mpg is a little low in my opinion. However, the reader could be wrong, and on one gas of tank, I can make 350-450 miles.

For that car, check if the timing belt was changed, otherwise for 6 cyl. it might be up to $1200. If you want to buy VW, get an VAG-COM code reader, on i-net it is about $80, you'll have more control of the electronic part of the car.

Re: What's it worth?

retail value for the car is arround 5000-5500 max if its a 4-motion v6.

the mpg's for that should be arround 22-24mpg but highway driving should be 26-28mpg if its a 400 mile hw trip.
