Welcome to AF.

If it threw a rod, the block is most likly trashed.

That $2400 seems a bit high, but I see you live in NJ , thats probly close for the area. Call around and get a second opinion/price.

98xploder, I would not post that link to that forum, or any other forums.

Didn't we just discuss this back on 1-28-08 ??

Re: 99 grand am quad 4 motor rebuild

Go with the Jasper, you get a warranty ,3 year,100,000 mile warranty.Problem with any used engines there is about a 90 day warranty on them.It is not worth rebuilding, you will have to put in a crank, rod and the block is junk if it has a hole in it.The quad 4 is very expensive to repair.

Re: 99 grand am quad 4 motor rebuild

I didnt realize Jasper gave that big of a warranty, that might be worth the extra money. I'd hate to go used for close to the same costs and the engine hav troubles soon.

Actualy if the blocks good its not that expensive for a stock rebuild, their are fewer parts then a v6 or v8.

If you want good info on the Quad 4 see the link below, covers all models .
