oil pressure gauge pegged high
The wife has a 2003 Envoy which has been very good thus far. This week the oil gauge started behaving erratically and is now pegged high regardless of whether the Envoy is running or not. Even with the key removed from the ignition the gauge is reading well over 80 psi which is the highest reading.
Engine temp is normal and oil level is normal. Changed the oil and filter, plus had the engine flushed but did not change the gauge readings. I am assuming that if the oil pressure was truly that high then the engine would probably have shutdown to protect itself already. Has anybody seen this before? Does this sound like more of problem with the gauge itself or the sending unit. I am leaning towards the gauge itself given that it doesn't go back to zero when the ignition is off. thanks in advance for any help. |

Re: oil pressure gauge pegged high
I have been trying to find a replacement gauge online somewhere but I am not having any luck. I called the dealership and they told me that it was part of an instrument cluster which has oil pressure, battery volts and engine temp. They also said that apparently there are a wide variety of the custers and they have to remove the existing one to figure out what to order for a replacement.
Anybody care to weigh in on whether this is true or not? I would much rather just order a replacement and change it out myself if at all possible. thanks. |

Re: oil pressure gauge pegged high
It is part of the cluster on that truck.
