Intermittent starting problem '98 Rodeo...
Fairly often when I go to start the car I get no response from the starter. The dash lights are on like normal but the starter is silent. If I give it another try or two it starts normally.
I'm just wondering if there is an item that commonly fails at about 120K miles. I'm thinking either starter solonoid or the ignition switch. Any ideas appreciated. |

Re: Intermittent starting problem '98 Rodeo...
sounds like you have a weak electrical connection at the battery or the starter is dieing.

Make sure connections on the batter are clean and tight. If they are ok then I'd say the contacts in the starter are going bad. If yours is 4wd its a real pain to change the starter.

Cleaning the battery posts was the first thing I did. And, yes, it's a 4-wheel drive.
