I need some help with my 98 Cavalier...
I wondered if anyone can help me..? My starter gave on me, so on the same day i got one and changed it. I got home and jacked my car up, it was like -0 degrees out, but I went ahead and finished. I then turned the key, now it won't start. I was frustrated, I'm not sure what the problem is but I think it might have to do something with the wiring or plugs. But before I changed the starter, it ran PERFECTLY! nothing wrong with it, but i also wondered if the gasline froze on me...? I used a can of starter spray to try and start it, but no-go...thats what made me wonder about the wiring, it seemed like it wasn't get'n any kick or fire! can some1 help?

does the starter actually work or no? Get a can of drygas and add it to your tank

Well if your lines are already froze. The dry gas isn't going to do anything now because the dry gas is in your tank and its your fuel lines which are frozen most likey. Try to roll it into a garage and turn the heat on. Thats really the only way you can un freeze them. Then don't run your tank that low on gas without dry gas in it.

I need some help with my 98 Cavalier...
Yea thanks for all your help, i found out that i missed a wire above the starter, now i connected it, my car started right up! BUT NOW it over heated on me, so i changed the thermostat, which isn't easy by the way, and now it over heats, still. How do I know if the Water Pump gave out? It leaks water, but i'm not sure if it has something to do with the Water Pump not working..?

You probably have air in your coolant system. Take the res cap off the overflow tank and run the car till it reaches normal temp and the fan kicks on when it kicks off put the cap back on and wait till the fan kicks back on then turn the car off.

Yes, ok i'll try that, but a little while ago, I checked it again and I found out that there is a part, I think its called the Water Outlet, it's slitely cracked around its rim. I went online to Napa and found out that the part is under $20. That's where it's losing anti-freeze, but I let it run, the anti-freeze just leaks out in that very spot, it doesn't over heat, yet anyways. So I am certain that it's the part I need to get. Hopefully it'll be the last step to get my car back to tip-top shape!!
If not it might be my Water Pump, and I found where the Water Pump is located, DAMN!! It doesn't look like it's a fun process to change it... haha |

Re: I need some help with my 98 Cavalier...
If you get heat inside the car to the heater core then your pump is fine. Turn your heat on and see if it blows hot or not and you'll know.
