Question questions for tune up, '04tb, 4.2L, 106K mi

not exactly sure what care the vehicle has had over the years but it is over 100k miles and I am wondering what I should do to give it a full tune up, as much as I can anyways!

Thanks in advance!

Your full tune up will consist of.
distributor cap, rotor, plugs, wires, oil and filter, air and fuel filter.
Go with the factory recomended tune up parts or you will be doing this again next year.

thanks for the reply but what wires? all the wires? how do you do this without taking the entire engine apart much less the rear computer console? Obviously I havent done this before so it sounds a little daunting...

another thing, I have heard that K&N filters and such are good quality, should I use these instead of factory?

thanks

the wires I am refering to are the spark plug wires, They go from the distruibutar cap to the spark plugs.
As for the K&N filter, I myself would use a wix filter.

I would say no to the K&N filter deals.
Do not believe all of the more mileage and more power adds.
Stay with AC Delco OEM Type stuff.
Wix is the best aftermarket filters.
On the wires it is just the plug wires that should be replaced.
On the plug wires do you have a dist or the new coil on plug setup?
Either way replace the plug wires if you still have them.
And check the latest AC delco spark book for number changes and sometime gap setting changes.
At a 100K there is other stuff that needs looked over and checked to.
Belts and hoses and coolant service transmission service and brake pads checked just to name some.
Good Luck with it.

Thanks, what do i replace the wires with? where do i get new ones?
The engine has the coil setup, what does this change?
By rotor, do you mean radiator fan?

trailblazers don't have wires or a distributor cap, etc. it is all direct ignition meaning that there is nothing to replace except for the spark plugs...

I did have 2 boots replaced on the coil wire going to the plugs due to carbon trails and arcing. This was done b/c I had intermittent missing while cruising. This fixed that problem.

A lot of oil additives and hyper lube stuff is snake oil.
The best additive is no additive just good fresh clean oil.

Pour in tank Fuel system cleaner only helps aid in keeping the injectors clean.
If they are bad a professional clean or new injectors are the way to go.
Good Luck
