mid 90s ECU wiring diagram

Hi guys. I hope someone here can help me.
I don't have a Cavalier. However, I am using a couple of mid 90s Cav throttle bodies on my 1965 Corvair that I am putting fuel injection on. I don't have the thottle bodies in my hands at the moment, but I need to figure out if I can use the ECU for air/fuel control on this mod. I can pick up an ECU at a salvage yard or at a dealer, but they aren't any help on wiring. I'll pick up a repair book when I get home tonight, but mostly I think I'll need to know what wires are essential to get this functional. I expect there will be a lot of unused pins on the connector.
Thanks in advance-
-Cash

Re: mid 90s ECU wiring diagram

You don't mention if they are TBI or MPI style... but you can use a factory style ECU... better to get it all from the year model the TB came from.... good luck, you're going to need it. I see your main problem being getting the ECU to trigger the injectors, as your Corvair does not have a crankshaft sensor... You may be able to use a flying magnet trigger setup to do this, but I don't know if it's the same type of signal.

Most 90s GM cars are the same as far as the ECM control schematics go....The schematics for different models are available in most Haynes Repair Manuals for each body-style manufactured -- again, make sure that you get the schematic for a TBI or MPI setup according to what you have.... TBI would apply to late 80s-early 90s Cavaliers/Corsicas/Berettas/Sunbirds, and some cars that had the 2.5L.... MPI would apply to most 86-later 2.8s and 3.1 and 3.8s. One other thought that might help..... The pre-87 2.5s had a distributor with TBI, this may be a possible donor system that would work.... BUT.... IIRC, the Corvair was based largely on a Porsche/VW engine setup, I wonder if swapping an FI system from a later boxer-style enginewould be easier? Also consider that Ford (AGGGH, I know) used a twin-injector, single TB setup with dual oxygen sensors for 1987 ONLY, on their 3.8 V6, in T-Birds and the like.... Those engines are known to blow up quite a bit and could be a possible swap, an 88 could be utilized the same way, but they are MPI and only use one exhaust sensor.

Good luck!
