Loud Clunking Noise Coming From Engine
Heres the scoop:
I have had a slow oil leak for about the last year or so. Had a friend look at it and he said it was a gasket around the oil pan or something similar to that. The other day I was driving, it was about 0 outside and I noticed my low coolant light was lit. After about 15 minutes of driving it turned off then I noticed my temp gauge was about half way up. Considering how cold it was it shouldnt have even been close to there. Parked my car for about an hour and when I got back in I noticed the heat had stopped working. My friend suggested checking the coolant level, it was low so I filled it up. Everything seemed to be fine afterwards, heat worked and the engine was staying much cooler. After that I started it back up and now Im getting a really loud clunking noise from the engine, even at idle. Gets much worse when I accelerate. Oil level is fine and there does not seem to be any discoloration suggesting a head gasket. Have a 98 Grand Prix GT, 189k miles. Any suggestions to what it could be? Thanks |
