2000 Grand Prix GT 3.8ltr
I noticed the car seems to move ahead slightly when started in park. Not much movement just slight? Car has 136,000kms. Any ideas would be appreciated.
BTW - Great forum guys it has helped me solve my Key removal and wet passenger floor issues. Thanks Alot. |

Re: 2000 Grand Prix GT 3.8ltr
Welcome to AF!!
Not a real issue. The transmission is just settling into the park mode, may not be fully engaging when you start since the auto tranny will not move a car when starting due to slippage and the torque convertor does not transfer power like a clutch would at start-up. I wouldn't worry about it at all. |

Re: 2000 Grand Prix GT 3.8ltr
I've been waiting for a reply to this question. Thanks for the reassurance GTP Dad. My 97 GT does the same thing on my straight and even driveway. I have a remote start so I can see it move after start-up from my window when I start it.

![]() Looks to be normal to me. Mine creeps up about an inch or so if the parking brake is not engaged. Anyways it is good practice is to use the parking brake whenever possible to cut down on park gear pawl wear.
