just bought my first bug, 84 mexico, help needed...
hello
a few things... my speedo dosn't work, apparently its just "unclipped" but i had a look t the back and it all looks "clipped"...any ideas??? Haynes manual = unhelpful for this... Also, the turny handle thing that makes the seat tilt (technical....stuff) is missing, any idea where i can find a new one? i tried a couple of breakers yards...but no luck..... Thirdly, the bumpers...need to go, but the front indicators are inbedded into it, and theres a fog lamp dangling off the back one.....suggestions??? thank you..... joe

1. Speedo: Check to make sure the cable is attached to the hub cover in the left front wheel.
2. I'm not sure what style the Mexican seats were, but a VW parts house like http://www.wolfsburgwest.com or http://www.mamotorworks.com should have a replacement. You'll have to compare pictures of the handle, since they are in the catalog by model year (US). 3. Replacement bumbers are available (check the links above) with the turn signal cut outs. If you want to move the signals back to the top of the fenders, they also have turn signal assemblies. You just have to re-route the wires up to the fenders. The "Fog lamp" on the rear is probably the reverse light. Replacements are also available. Good Luck

SEEM THAT YOU HAVE SOME PROBLEMS FINDING PARTS FOR YOUR BUG....LOL THE FOG LAMP IN THE REAR BUMPER ITS A AFTERMARLET STUFF SO YOU CAN TAKE IT OFF JUST NEED TO FOLLOW THE CABLES TO WHERE THEY ARE CONECTED THE MOST PROBABLY PLACE ITS BEHIND ONE OF THE TAIL LIGHTS THE OTHER PLACE WHERE THE CAN BE CONECTED TIS IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FIREWALL IN THE MOTOR COMPARTMENT.............. ABOUT THE SEAT I CAN TELL YOU THAT THE LEVEL THAT LOOSE THE SEAT ITS IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SEAT ITS A ¨T¨ SOMETHIG LIKE A TRIANGLE HANDLE THAT MOVES APIN THAT HAVE A SPRING THAT MAKE IT GET IN THE HOLE ONCE YOU RELICE THE HANDLE IF YOU WISH SOME PICS PLEASE SEND ME A MAIL BECAUSE I DONT KNOW HOW TO OUT MY PICTUES HERE   REMEMBER THAT IM MEXICAN ................ LOL  SO EXCUSE MY ENGLISH AND I HOPE THIS CAN HELP
