86 golf oil leak

hello to all, usually hang out on the ford windstar forum since there is never any shortage of problems with those vehicles. but i also have a 86 golf with a 1.6l diesel that is pushing oil out from underneath the oil fill cap. i've tried buying a new cap (aftermarket from advance auto parts), i also talked to a guy at my local vw dealer that said i needed a baffle that sits underneath the valve cover and on top of the rocker arms so i ordered that and am still having the problem although it doesn't seem to be as bad. was just wondering if anyone here had any ideas? thanks in advance for any help.

Re: 86 golf oil leak

Cut a new piece of rubber to fit the underside of the cap so it will seal. Make sure your crankcase vent is open first.
