No guys....no progress on this. Sorry for those who came here expecting something new.
As you may have noticed i worked on something else in the meantime ( the 911GT1 ) and right now i'm on another little "in betweener". I'll post something on that in the new year. After that i should get back to the McLaren.

Hi Jaykay! (or should I say "oh great modelling god")

Firstoff...words cannot describe how good this build is, but if you want to know I have giggled my way trough all the pages.

Sorry to bother you with this but I have a question for you, I am starting to plan a new hobbyroom and I am going to build myself a new spraybooth. One that is effective enough to handle 2K paints. And since you use them alot I thought you would be the one to ask for pointers.

Any recommendations or tips!

Thanks:-) About the sprayboth....well....i don't have one. I don't have the space for a hobby room in my flat so my desk is my modeling table. The lathe and mill that sit under it in boxes go on the dinner table when i need them and i spray my models in the kitchen because it has very little dust. I just have a big cardboard box that i fold up when i spray to cover the stove it's sitting on. I wear a face/dust mask and that's it. When i'm done i open the windows and let fresh air in. This is not a health spa setup but to be honest i don't worry too much about those paints killing me:-) The painters at my job don't use masks most of the time when they work on little stuff and they are exposed to the paints every day. I on the other hand only paint every now and then so it should be o.k. Heck....if you smoke that's an awful lot more dangerous ( and no i don't :-)
To answer your question more directly, you don't need anything really special for 2K-paints i think. Build a box that's big enough to work in it ( or rather in front of it ) with some lighting inside and attach a ventilator you find at a DIY market that can suck the air out of the room through some tubing or large hose like for a clothes dryer. If you don't have a chance to get the air out of the room you should add a filter to hold the paint particles. That will reduce the suction power of your ventilator however and possibly start a little storm in your room that may take all the dust in the air to your model :-)
If you search around on the NET there should be plenty examples of DIY sprayboths.

For the others...no there's no progress!! I have in fact worked on the brake calipers of the MP4/4 recently ( and boy they are annoying...) but i'll not work on the model again before the Tameo Lotus is done:-)

Hi jaykay,

Amazing job. I have no words to describe all that you have done so far. What I have enjoyed most is the way you have created the photo etched parts. I had used this technique to create electronic circuits, and now I know another application!

Jaykay, I'm just amazed at the quality of your work on this build. You're on another level then the rest of us.

Your last post was back on 11-8-2008. Have you stopped working on your MP 4/4 or have you started another thread through it's completion? I would hate to think that you just stopped working on it, as that would be a loss for all of us.
