Re: lowering springs

Personally i've had the Eibach Pro kit and KYB AGX combo for 3 years now, before that i had DropZone on stock struts ( never ever do that). I've also been in a sunfire on KYB GR-2's and on Goldline springs. The sunfire rode like complete shit and bounced all over the road. I am in love with my current setup. However i am looking at the Tein SS coilovers since i've heard those are the ultimate in driving fun.. Here are some pics for you of my ride height...

Summer 2005 on 17"s, man my car looked like shit back in the day... ha ha

Re: lowering springs

Just got my Eibach springs in today, right now I am running 1.6 all around B&G springs, but got these Eiback Sportlines, 1.7 front and 2.3 rear, cant wait till spring to get em on. On stock struts too. Ive rode the B&Gs for about a year on stock struts, rides pretty smooth actually.

Re: lowering springs

If you get the sportlines, you need struts that have been designed to handle a drop. Koni, Tokico D-spec, something along those lines.

Re: lowering springs

Sportlines on stock struts? Now there is a brilliant idea..../sarcasim

Eibach is one of the best spring company's out there. They are one of the few who produce progressive lowering spring. You need to match a strut which can handle the changed lower ride height and it also needs stiffer valving in the strut to handle the changing spring rates while being that low.

This why you needs struts which are adjustable to handle these. ( KYB AGX[Prokit only] KONI, Tokicio D-spec) are the best for J's.

I'm sure neither of you have wrote in a J properly lowered if your ranting about them or think stock struts are good with them.

Re: lowering springs

been in more lowered j's than I can count, sportlines are horrible and the prokit is....ok

One car we actually had a smoother ride with koni yellows and h&r springs (not very good springs) than the yellow's and the prokit.

Another smooth riding spring was intrax. (unpopular)
Not a fan of tein, for the price you pay for them vs. the ride....i dunno thier coilovers are nice but still leave something to be desired.

K Sport is decent but don't believe they make anything for a cavalier just like Ohlins. There are several thousand combo's you could do out there, but what ever you do get rid of the gm struts, even if you replace them with kyb gr2 (factory replacement, but can handle a mild drop but would not sugggest it)
