Intermittent Brake Failure 01 Passat Estate
Putting this post up for my parents since they dont know how to use the internet so if any of the car details are a bit off then its because its not my car :P
Passat Estate, 2.0L Turbo, 51 reg so thats second half of 2001? Well it started when the brakes on the car failed at a junction, so it was taken to our local garage where they did the usual checks and found nothing, saying it was safe, so my parents started using the car again. After a couple of days the same thing happened, foot down on the brakes and no brake kicked in so it went for another checkup at a different garage and after a few days they reported nothing was wrong with the brake system. ![]() The reason im posting this is because my parents are completely out of ideas, they cant use the Passat until they can be re-assured that the problem has been fixed. I was thinking that they should take the car to a regional specialist for a checkup but ive got no idea where the best place is in the North Wales area for passat maintenance. Any help or ideas on the problem itself or the next plan of action would be much appreciated. |

Re: Intermittent Brake Failure 01 Passat Estate
Check the outer CV joints for broken boot, it it is raining or snowing, the grease might get on the break disk. I had similar problem in mine, but after replacing the CV boots, no problem with breaks.
Good luck. |
