98 K1500 4X4 or 4X3

hear alot of different answers about my 98 k1500 Z71 bein a true 4 or is it just a 3 wheeler im sure one of ya can tell me the answer to this question thanks in advance

It would depend on the front and rear axles.
If the rear is a locker, and the front is open, it is really only 3.
If both are open, it's only two.
The only way it is true 4x4 is if you have a locker in both differentials.

If the rear has a posi (sorry don't know off-hand what year they started using the eaton lockers), I'd still consider it 2. A posi is only for the street, and will do very little offroad if you lift a tire off the ground or sink one side in mud.

the rear has a locker im almost positive on that it throws two roosters up everytime im in the mud and ive had one side on ice and the other not and i didnt sit and spin like i did in my S-10 but since i know its a stock front axle it prolly just an open thanks for the advice
