71 charger 500 need help on where to start

well im 18 and i bought a 71 charger 500 about two years ago. its been hectic around my home town and it seems like its an impossible task. please help me out on where to start

So what are you asking here, a rebuild/restore or what ??

If thats what youre asking then it depends on what you want and what kind of money you can spend.
I have restored a few of these old Mopars and the least I ever spent was $5000 and the car had no rust. Though it sold for over $15000!
I have a 69 GTX, its been about 6 years now and its no where near finished , due to time and funds. I'm about $4000 into it, still needs paint, interior, and the motor rebuilt.
Hoping to finish in the coming summer... hoping!

well i got it for a steel
it was in a guys driveway i paid 1400 and drove it home.
my problems are small but numorous.
the gastank has holes the brakelines are shot i need wheels for it and i dont have carpet or a back seat, the windshield needs to be remounted it needs paint and i need to rebuild the carb
i really dont want show quality just to look good and drivable
the body and frame has no rust and i already have a head turning hood ( the ramcharger hood that opens and closes by vaccuume) but i just started school 3 hours from home and have no money (with no chance to get any because i play football for my college) so i was almost considering selling it but i really want to keep it
i just dont know what i need to do

The 71 Gharger isnt one of the top dollar cars but still you got a steal for 1400 if you drove it home!

Id start with the brakes first they are the most important part realy, safty wise.
Then check on the net for a gastank replacement. YearOne.com has what you need, but they are very pricey.

You should keep it and fix what you can when you can. Unless you could turn it around and sell it for profit as it is.

yeah those air grabber hoods are sweet!

IMO its probly worth fixing up and will turn a profit down the road.
