Electrical ?'s

2002 Trialblazer EXT 70k miles: Something has gone out electrically, I have front wipers, headlights, heat, blower but stuck in the defrost mode, 4 whl drive works, blinkers, instrument panel works. What doesnt work are radio, power seats, locks, interior lights, tail lights, a/c. The fuses check out, and there is power going to the rear fuse block as some things that are back there are working but what could contol the things that I listed, they all went out at the same time so something had to have been drawing power and then it died.

Re: Electrical ?'s

I had a similar issue. Actually two similar issues at once. One was the DVD/onstar fuse kept blowing. Then eventually the truck started having the symptoms you described. The DVD/onstar fuse issue was because of a short to ground in a wiring harness in the roof.

The other issue was similar but unreleated. I had the sympoms you describe, which was due to a short to ground in the wiring harness in the floor in the rear that caused the BCM to fail. This short to ground did not cause a fuse to blow, so it took a long time to find.

After the wiring was repaired (at the delearship) both the DVD and the BCM were fine.
