Head Unit Installation Tips?

Hello everyone, again I'm asking for some advice. I recently purchased a new head unit, and before I go about installing it, I thought I'd go ahead and ask for any advice you guys might be able to provide. I am well aware, since my Z24 is a 2000, of the Class 2 wiring and everything involved with that. I have my bracket, my antenna adaptor, and still need to pick up a wiring harness (store was sold out). I also found an interface replacement I can install with my unit to retain warning chimes and everything I am still debating whether I should pick up or not. I just thought I'd ask for any advice or tips you guys have for me. Thanks.

Re: Head Unit Installation Tips?

Do you want your door warning chimes? If yes, but that $60-70 dollar chime noise maker thing you wire into the harness. If you could careless but have the extra money then spend that 60-70 on some new speakers to go with that deck... Me personally, i will put it in so just in case you ever sell your car you don't have to explain why the doors don't chime. If you need a how-to on removing your deck or anything like that, check out the sticky on the top of the non-performance section. Everything you need to know is in there.

g'luck bud.

Re: Head Unit Installation Tips?

Well I already have new speakers all around, I did that all in October. And today I just picked up a new thing by Scosche which they call an "Interface replacement" It has the wiring harness I need and another plug branching off which plugs into this little device that supposedly retains the chimes and all. In addition this little device hooks into my Scosche brackets I also bought so I don't have to run wiring all through my car to relocate the factory deck, it can all be put right into my dash. So this little thing is great if it works. I think I'm set now and will probably do this next week. This weekend I need to replace all my brakes, failed inspection I honestly don't feel or see any problems, may just be trying to rip off a 17 year old, but I need my sticker.
