4.6 air purging after coolant flush?

I am curious if anyone else has ever had trouble with these Crown Vics with the 4.6 after draining the radiator? I thought I remembered seeing a post somewhere about a proper way to purge this engine, and it mentioned opening the cylinder drain plugs? Does this engine have a drain plug for each cylinder, and if so where are they?
I have a feeling this has something to do with the fact my engine will not warm up enough to make the heater hot after I flushed the coolant. It seems I can actually hear the coolant going through the heater core when I pull away from a stop sign. This does not seem normal to me.
I am about ready to pull my grey hairs out over this one.

Disconect your UPPER heater hose on the back right side of your engine.PLUG THE HOSE/ If you can find a old T Type flush VALVE and install it in the hose.IF NOT / dont run the engine /just add anti freeze to the rad till you see anti freeze start to escape from the HEATER CORE /reconnect hose. That should purge all the air out

Thanks, I will give it a try and let you know what happens. That would be great if it fixed the problem.

Re: 4.6 air purging after coolant flush?

Finally!!!!!!!
I have a car with a great heater. I am really glad this did the trick. I took the hose off the heater core and just kept adding a little bit until it started to trickle out. I still don't get up to halfway on the temp indicator, but she blows nice toasty air. I wonder if the temp indicator is off a bit?
Thanks for the advice

I still ended up putting some cardboard in front of the radiator. I am close to halfway on the temp guage now, but still am at a loss as to why I can't get there without the cardboard. It is better than it was before, but not enough that I can leave the cardboard out.
I tried to hook the scanner up but all I get is the "vehicle not responding" message. At least that way I would know the true temp reading.

YOU have lots of heat right??? Dont worry about the gauge there not accurate .So long as you have heat and take that cardboard out before you cook your engine

No, I would not say the heater is hot, but keeps it warm. If I take the cardboard out the engine will not heat up enough to make the heater warm. My brother drove the car this way three years and had to do the cardboard every winter. I know my way around a car or truck and have never had one this stubborn. After purging the coolant system it was better, but not good enough to not need the cardboard. I don't have the entire radiator covered and keep an eye on the temp guage as I have always had a habit of doing.
The thing I can't figure out is as hot as the heater hoses are I would think the air would be warmer than it is.
