clutch troubles

well its that time where shit has to go wrong. i lost my job a month ago and then moved out to the boonies where i can't find a job and guess what... my clutch is slipping!

ok now i have a $500 stage 4 clutchmasters clutch and i really don't want to replace the whole thing because i have no money for that shit.

i've been told by a friend that i can just buy a new disc and i should be fine. he's good with cars and he has a very fast dsm. he built it up himself.

now my stepdad who's a mechanic says i have to replace the whole thing. he doesnt understand that i want to keep my clutch. so he wants me to get an oem clutch.

now i have the choice of a cheap street/strip disc, or a semi cheap OEM clutch. what should i do?

i'm not thinking about getting a new stage 4 because i plan to get a new motor soon.

well if you can get away with just getting the disc, then I say go for that. But if that won't fix the problem, then you'll need to get the new clutch. But if you think the disc will fix it, go for that.

the thing is i think i only need a disc. and a few of my mechanically inclined friends: jon dunn(h22 civic cx w nitrous and turbo [ran low 12s before turbo]), chris nugent (very fast eclipse) both said i should get a disc and it prolly wont be anything more.

but my stepfather (ase certified, built 425hp n/a stock car) says i need a whole clutch.

no one has driven it but me and no one has taken anything apart so it's all a guessing game right now as who i should trust.

I say trust your friends. Your STEP-father may just be trying to jack your money, and may think that you have money just because you drive a nice modded civic.
