the ls block should fit...but it might cost alot to do the conversion...why dont you just buy another gsr block.

a cam-in-head engine doesnt have push rods, only the old V6/8 have them where the cam was down in the block.
time for a new mechanic.

First of all I would defintitly have a different mechanic look at it. But are you sure he didn't say connecting rods instead of push rods because first of all even my mom knows that overhead cam engines don't have push rods and secondly push rods can't be stretched because like the name says all they do is push there is nothing that can pull and stretch them out!

you must have really been beating on that motor to fuck it up. Those B18 motors are pretty tough and will take some abuse. What caused its death??--then maybe we can tell you what you broke.

and pushrods can, and do expand. when they heat up from the engine, they expand, just like all metals.

They will expand, but not stretch... The only way he could have stretched them is if one was somehow locked in or near TDC and the crank continued to go down. How in the fuck you could accomplish that is beyond me though. Talk to the mechanic again, or even better take it to someone who knows their stuff a little better.

i tolk your guys advice, and tolk my car to a friend that dose moter work. he said that, the guy is full of shit and their is nothing wrong with the rods. he didnt take it apart or anything, but he turnd it on and listend to it. he thinks that its the rode barings, he said their not geting oil and are probly worn out, from red-lining. couse the car still runs but it makes a really loud noise, like some boltes fell in to the engine.

i dont think that it would cost much to do the conversion. couse all id have to buy is a new LS/GS engine. right?
it would take alot of time to do the conversion.

bearings are not hard to replace, as long as you have time and the right tools, good luck.
