Calmini AAL's installed on OZXterra!
Wasn't too bad of a job, except for the fact the Calmini supplies you with absolutely no instructions??? The install is pretty much the same for most AAL's except you have to place the longest leaf in above the factory leaf the has the spring retainers on it. Then place the shortest leaf on the bottom and discard the factory load leaf! It took and hour and half for the drivers side and then hour for the passengers side to do the installs.
Hopefully, SuperJens will post more pics!

Badassedness... Truck runs better and quite smooth now. I need A arms and I wanna get the Rancho 9000's that are adjustable from the interior. My daily driver BFG's look small now..... I cant bring myself to run on my mudders all the time though (what a dilemma!!).
Thanks to all for the help. It looked harder than it was I reckon. Jens was official photographer and "Tool Boy" as well as co - quick disconnect installer so we shall await his artistic works..Rick - i think Jens and I almost feel asleep on the way home we were so stuffed with BBQ... damn nice!! Time to do yours next Rick! |

I wanted a smoother more forgiving ride on and off road. I tow the odd trailer but figured I would give it a shot with the load leaf off. To be honest it runs great without it. Should work fine either way. If you are a heavy tower etc then Id leave it on. If I get to the point where I am pulling a lot again I may reinstall them.

Well, the center bolt got bent on one side so I had to redo the whole thing again. We put the load leafs back in and it all seems great. Motorzen and I did Shaw Lake which is about as much flex as you can possibly do without rolling the truck over - it performed admirably. A great improvement.
dandingo - drop us a line if you want to wheel. I am out of Seattle. [email protected] |

Just finished Calmini AAL
Wow! What an improvement. Just got back from my test drive after finishing a Calmini AAL with Bilstiens all around. I know the shocks make a difference, but the whole thing is much improved. I too left my load leafs on, although I can see that clearance could be a problem there.
Calmini's stuff is good, only one dissapointment -- no instructions included. |

Speed - keep a close eye on the wrap-around metal pieces that hold the leafs in line. With an aal install they weaken and often open up. I use a large C-clamp to crank them back into shape. I wish Calmini had put in replacements for those... Ill get some later I guess..
Other than that my Calminis have held up quite well with some pretty harsh use. |

Yea, I can see how they would degrade and loosen up, amazing that they don't from the factory.
Are there aftermarket replacement clamps, or are you thinking about buying Nissan replacements? |
