98 GMC Jimmy, fuel pressure sensor
In a nutshell...
98 Jimmy, approximately 97,000 mile. Been rough starting in the mornings, but does start after about 6 seconds. Check engine light comes on randomly, but more often then not. Took it to an auto parts store and had them pull the codes. They said it was the "fuel vapor vent pressure sensor". It's only like 50 dollars, but I didn't want to buy it until I found out if it was difficult to do. So my questions are these... 1. Does this sound like the right diagnosis for this problem 2. Is it hard to fix 3. Where the heck is it, under hood or under car. They said the code was 453. Thank you Neil |

Re: 98 GMC Jimmy, fuel pressure sensor
This part is for the evap emissions and will cause the no start. Check fuel pressure, you need 60-65 psi to start.

Re: 98 GMC Jimmy, fuel pressure sensor
If his diagnosis is accurate that sensor is on top of the gas tank, some tanks have exhibited slight cracking so that may be another issue with the code, more diagnosis would be required to check this out.
