Re: 96 olds 88-how to test ignition module, crank & cam sensors

To test the ignition module, you have to remove it from your car and you can take it to Autozone or Oriely and they'll test it for free.

As for the cam and crank sensors, they may not be working properly b/c of the possible bad ICM. BUT, if the ICM is good and you do want to test them I believe it is possible to remove the cam and have it tested at Autozone too....as for the crank...i'm not sure. It is pretty hard to get off without a puller...

no spark,1994 olds 88

No spark,no oscilloscope,no experience with this.I hope not to spend money needlessly My wife's car drove around half the day,she went to start it at the store...nothing. 8 minutes later, she started it,and we drove it for a few days no problems.Thankfully, it would not start when we were about to leave the house. It has not run since, but at least it is in "my" driveway..I have read some great stuff on this site, and joined today.I hope not to have to find an electrical wire issue, but will learn how to if I need.I do not have the funds to replace ECM,PCM,CK sensor,Cam Sensor.I will take ICM? from under my coil packs and have it tested, as I think I understand would be as good as any to start, and it only cost time and a trip to town...Please post you gurus of the auto..Thanks Plodder
