Re: how do i remove a radio/cass from a passat

I had the exact same problem i ended up breakin the stock radio and screwin uo the dash cuz i bent the clips on the radio with butter knives, i even tried generic radio puller tools, i would say go by a dealership and see if they have some tools you can buy for it

In b5 passats, radio is removed by two slots one is above "mix" button and other is above "power" button. Search on the internet about the two keys that go in the two slots. Also, check about code for the radio.

radio is removed by two slots one is above "mix" button and other is above "power" button.

Other wise, just go to the dealership and have them pull it for you. They can at least unlock it for you to pull yourself.....Then again you can always purchase the keys to do so as well.

Good Luck it is a pain in the @$$ to do.

Re: how do i remove a radio/cass from a passat

i didn't even need the special tools to remove the stock radio. you can do without the tool. if you look in the little "glove box" located under your radio, you will see 2 hex screews. take them out. if you remove the small panel that goes over the heater buttons (that little cover snaps off, be carefull not to break it) you will see another 2 hex screews. remove them as well. so after removing the 4 hex screws the whole assembly comes out with the radio. after that you can just use your fingers to press the two clips on side of radio to disconnect it from the face panel. understand?
