Suggestions on what might have happened?

Hi,

I have an '87 Delta 88. The car was running perfectly fine yesterday. I get up this morning and I start the car to warm it up (it was about 9 degrees this am). About 10 mins later, I get in the car and I notice that the blower is still blowing cooooold air. Figure this was just cause it was so cold. So I get about halfway to my destination and the blower (what I THOUGHT was the blower at least) starts making this weird noise....it gets louder and louder and louder and the next thing I know I see smoke or steam billowing out of the passanger side of the engine from under the hood. The loud noise stops. Blower motor still blowing but still very cold air. I turned off the car. It starts back up, but not chancing anything of course so I didn't drive it anywhere....left it at my friends house.

The blower motor is brand new. I just replaced that literally a month ago cause it was seized up.

The timing went last winter (about this time) and when they fixed that they said that the water pump was leaking so that was changed at that time while they had everything apart. So the waterpump should be about a year old. Do you think my waterpump went again?

I gotta put a call into my mechanic to get an appointment made... just got too busy today. So hopefully will do that tomorrow. My friend wants to see if he can fix it himself, but not quite sure if that's going to be possible.

Welcome to AF. Did you look in the radiator, see if the coolant froze, could be.

Yea... I looked, but there was nothing in the radiator anymore. Whatever happened the other day it all came out. I KNOW that there was coolant in there before this happened cause I just recently checked it. You can smell the coolant when looking under the hood now. But I can't find where it came out of.

Oh, I forgot to mention...the thermostat also is new. It was replaced about 3 months ago.

The mechanic can't look at it until Tues. So until then, I twiddle my thumbs.
