Good day...This may sound like fiction, but, my 2000 Jeep GC, 4.0 overheated last Jan. I replaced the thermostat which lasted about a week, thought it was faulty, replaced again with fail safe, that went...blah blah, replaced fan at a suggestion, still overheated..replaced thermostat agin, total 4 times, finally replaced the rad. NOT the prob..ummm...errr
I went to my friends auto parts store and was looking at the plastic overflow tank and was told to make sure the hose to it is free, blew into it and it was free. I noticed coolant was flowing from the overflow tank into the rad but not back into the tank.
I discovered the plastic nipple type spout which the rubber hose goes over was fused together, well almost, there was a pin hole allowing the coolant to seep out but not to return. I drilled the plastic with a 3/16 bit and haven't had a problem. This was after spending over $800.00 on other parts, and coolant but end up being fixed with a 30 cent drill bit.

Most frustration 4 weeks of my life.
Woe is me..hopefully this will help a load of people save a load of $ and time.
