Re: Environmental Ethics of Modelling
Being a big "green" person i recycle any excess, all my sprue, plastic tree wrapping, and anything else. Also using an airbrush and compressed air reduces the rattle can use. The small scale of the hobby and materials usage is not a very big impact, but my individual lifestyle is. Its the result of those lifestyle changes that it filtered down to my model hobby. I didnt start with a green approach through modeling then branch bigger.
Although there is a sense of scale to the small stuff, think if everyone on AF at least took all there sprue and put it in a pile, thatd be a big pile. than think of every model off the revell, tamiya, fujimi, etc. production lines. Thats a really big pile!

Re: Environmental Ethics of Modelling
Fantastic responses by all, thanks for your input and interest. I have read all of your posts carefully.
Now that I have an idea of what I can do, I want more, please. I appreciate everyone's "Big Picture" thoughts of more important gobal environmental issue. I suppose if we had to choose "Greener" methods between modelling and the more nasty pollution contributors, modelling would be pushed aside. However, I believe every small contribution can add up to a noticeable difference. We, builders, know this very well everytime we build a kit. Knowledge is POWER. You have suggested some products and methods of being "Greener" above. I hope you can add more. So here is what I would like to know if you have any suggestions. 1.What brands of water base paints have you used in the past that has served your purpose well? (small parts, large parts, body of model, clear coat, etc...) 2. Is there other environmental friendly products have you used to replace the less "Greener" ones? (glues, polishes, etc...) 3. What different methods have you used, if any, in order for your alternatively greener techniques to be successful? Please feel free to add your questions on this thread as well. Again, thanks in advance. Thanks for your time! Cheers, Rick
