Smile Gt, Gt1, Gt2, Gxp?

Hi All,

I fell in love with Pontiacs when I bought my first grand am back in '93. I now have a 2000 GP GTP with all the bells n whistles. LOVE this car, but am thinking it's about time to trade-up to something newer so I've been searching online to see what's out there. Would one of you guys mind explaining the differences in all the Gt, GT1, GT2, GXP's that I see for sale?
Are these just different levels of trim? Do one of these come with the supercharger? hehe. That's one of those options that I thought I would NEVER want, but now that I have one can't imagine driving without it much like the heated seats. By the way did Pontiac finally give the passenger a heated seat in newer models?

Don't know much about the others but I know the GXP has a supercharged V8 and the stock 0-60 is like 5.7 while the GTPs are around 6.6.

this isnt true the GXP is not supercharged, it is a 5328cc LS4 at 303 hp and 323 lb-ft torque with displacement on demand(4 cyl. active when under low rpms and 8 cyl. active while under hard acceleration which is good for gas mileage while still being able to wtf pown most imports). While the GTP comp G (which was ownage) was dropped, the GT now has the 3791cc L67 with the positive displacement eaton which was upgraded and now churns out 260hp and 280 lb-ft torque. options come at a cost though, i'm pretty sure that it also has passenger heated seat as well now. check out http://www.pontiac.com/grandprix/bui...008&useFlash=Y 29500 base price.

You might want to check out the G8 when it gets here next year. It replaces the Grand Prix.

Re: Gt, Gt1, Gt2, Gxp?

GT - Base model, 3800 V6, sometimes hubcaps sometimes rims, floor shift, usually no options

GT1 - Rims, 3800 V6, sunroof or leather (usually one of the two), also SOME have a 6 CD changer and buttons in the steering wheel

GT2 - Rims, 3800 V6, sunroof, leather, 6cd, buttons in steering wheel, HUD (option)

GTP - Same as GT2 except Supercharged 3800 V6 and has HUD, also comes with different rims (I have them on my GT1 they're sexy )

GXP - 5.3L V8, Different body front and back, also side is different with rims and painted brake calipers, the wing is also different and the leather seats on inside is different.

GT1 and GT2 dropped after 04. Base model has no designation after 04, while GT became the supercharged model for 06-07 and was dropped for 08.

thanks for the info guys, good stuff to know! So what's the G8 going to look like? If it's anything like the G6, I'm going to be sorta disappointed.
