Help ! Driver's side won't turn off alarm

Hi,
My daughter has a 99 Cabrio. Sometimes when unlocking the driver's side door the alarm sound when you try to start the car. If you go out and unlock thr doors from the passenger side, the alarm shuts off. It doesn't happen all of the time ..... usually at 7:00 in the morning when the neighbors are asleep !!

Also, one time in a heavy rain, the alarm went off on it's own.

We don't have an owner's manual, so the operation of the door locks is a little strange to us .... they open windows ....doors .... trunk ...

Thanks in advance ... Bob

Hi have you done anything with the battery i.e. take it out, replace it, etc? Also are you using a DEALER programmed key? If you have any other problems my email is [email protected]

Pull back the rubber boot on the door hinge area where the wiring harness goes to. Check the wires for cracking or fraying - this can cause alarm issues.

It to me seems like the door latch microswitch is bad, unfortunately you will need a new door latch assembly ( $150-250.00)

When the battery falls below a certian leval of cranking amps the alarm begins to freek out.
Check the battery first.
Also when you change the batery some times the alarm will not shut off. To turn it off, lock and unlock the trunk.
