help, i srewed up big time!!!!!

i was changing the temperature coolant sensor (ECT) because i was getting a p0128 code. as i was screwing the new one in place, i heard a crack!! the part of the engine thast this sensor scews into is now cracked. what part of the engine is it and how screwed am i???

It would really help to know if you have the 3.4 or the 3.8, and what year.

On your typical late model GM engine which includes the 3400 and 3800 the ECT threads into the lower intake manifold. The results depending on how bad the crack is could be a coolant leak or the engine eventually may overheat.

that would be the lower intake manifold it screws into. as stated above the harshness of you being screwed depends on the damage to the manifold. and 99% of the time a P0128 means the thermostat if faulty, not the sensor. best of luck.

After you find out how bad the problem is some U-pull it yards aren't as high as a normal scrap yard. Some machine shops will weld aluminum you could check for an estimate. You might be able to drill a larger hole and use a bushing. Clean it real good and look at the damage with a flashlight. It really depends how far the crack runs.
