Thumbs up Honda Diesel

I see Honda will be offering a 2.2 L Diesel in the Accord for 2009. This engine is reported to have abt. 150 HP w/260 lb.-ft torque. Reported to be up gradeable to 180 hp and 315 lb.ft. torque. This engine is the current European engine.
Anyone know any mileage figures on this or reliability facts?
I think it's funny that Honda will be in the market with a proven Diesel before VW gets its act together for one in the Passat.
Thanks

Re: Honda Diesel

I did a quick google search and found this from 2006 http://www.businessweek.com/magazine...4/b4007079.htm

It says it would be looking at 43-55.4 mpg. I would love to get my hands on something like that seeing as how I drive about 100 miles roundtrip every day. Plus I might be able to tow the boat with it!

Re: Honda Diesel

Thanks for the info. I currently drive a 2001 Jetta TDI with the 5 speed manual tranny. Normally get 50 to 55 on highway and high 40's in town, love it, this is turning out to be one of the best automobiles I have ever owned. Just did the 100 K timing belt change and expect to own this car a long long time.
BUT, I sure would like to add a Accord 2.2CTDi. Wonder if the data they gave was a man. or auto tranny????
Anyway an Accord would be a larger car and that would be nice.
I'm just not about to give over $50K for a Diesel E class car.
Thanks

Re: Honda Diesel

OH, by the way I tow an all aluminium trailor, usually with a 900 lb. motorcycle or two, the 900 pounder and a 600 pounder, BUT milage goes into the basement when towing, usually into the low 30s to high 20s but I run hard, 70 or so.
