Reset "Change Eng Oil" Light - 2003 Envoy

After wrecking my 98 Jimmy, I bought a 2003 Envoy. I love it, but there's one annoyance. The "change eng oil" light stays on for about 30 secs after startup, despite the fact that I got the oil changed yesterday.

I'm guessing the guys at Wal-Mart didn't bother/don't know how to reset it. Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

BTW- I tried searching for this problem before posting, but got this message:

Re: Reset "Change Eng Oil" Light - 2003 Envoy

If you have the SLT Model with the DIC (Driver Information Center), press the fuel info button on the steering wheel until it shows "Oil Life" and hit the reset button on the right side of the steering wheel and hold down for about 3 seconds or so. The light will turn off and the display will show 100% oil life left.

I'm not sure what you do if you don't have the DIC but I believe its something like turning the key on (but don't start) and pressing the gas pedal down three times. Maybe someone else will come on and either verify that or tell you the proper way.

Thanks. I have the SLE, without the DIC. I'll try the accelerator trick tomorrow.

This also worked on my 04 envoy XL without DIC. Thanks a lot for the info, I've been wondering how to clear that for 6 months now.
