Frusterating water leak / Help!?

Okay here it is....I have read all available past threads and cannot find one pertaining to this issue. Here it goes..........
After heavy rains i noticed a wet (very wet) pass front floorboard. It is just rain water ,having no coolant smell what-so-ever. Within time the blower motor stopped working. I removerd the cover on the bottom of the blower motor (where the electrical wire plugs into) and there was a small amount of water resting inside the bottom of the cover. Turned the key and the blower worked again. Then carefully put it back on while the motor is running, proceeding to wet vac the carpet.
Also the the faom backing on the black panel i removed to get to the blower motor was soaked, thus i vac'd it as well. But never-the-less my blower was operational again. I was glad to have fixed the blower issue.
Well I have done this for the 5th time and am really getting "over it", i am sure all of you can relate, in one way or another.
At this point i am on my knees(for no other reason) than to beg for help!!
P.s......I dont think the water is leaking from up top down into the blower. Tho it may be. I think it may seaping in the cracks around the cover on the bottom of the blower itself......heck i dont know anything other than the floor gets real wet and the blower motor stops working.
Any experience or ideas or oppinions are greatly appreciated......as they are calling for heavy rain again on monday.

well,i've had this problem with other cars but not my aurora..the water was running down the windshield onto the firewall and into the car..open the hood and look around the base of the windshield..see if there's any small cracks or holes in the firewall..i can't think of any other way the water could be getting in the car...also if the car is all dried out,you can take some bucket(s) of water and pour onto the windshield..see if the floor gets wet again,then you will know for sure..on my car you could see a visible rust hole in the firewall..it wasn't very big but the car was getting soaked..i rember i took the car to a auto body shop..they poured water on the wind shield and sure enough the floor started getting soaked..the sprayed the hole with some foam that expands and that ended the problem..

Aurora owners have had this problem and have posted about it but maybe on the old GM forum, not here. Anyway, make sure there are no fasteners missing on the plastic deck plate that's under the wiper arms. If everything appears in place you can try applying a small amount of RTV silicone sealant to the threads of the suspect screws to seal.

Okay i was wondering if this was the case.......if i remover the long plastic cover under the wipers where should i silicone? There is a lip on this that tucks up under the windshield and runs the full length of it. Should i run a bead under there only? Or around the whole perimeter of it? just want it to be able to come off again if need to. What area in or around this deck plate would you most likely suspect the culprit? The drivers side of the plate actually has an open grill on it.

I wouldn't try to seal the whole tray, just suspected water entry points. It's designed to run excess water off into the corners and the drain at the corners where the painted metal area is. I think the post said to clean these holes or tubes that are supposed to dump onto the ground just on the engine side of the firewall. This is the common design for most vehicles, has been for years.

Okay will inspect it farther this week end. I do know this is where it is getting in now tho. You can actually remove the panel and see the top end of the blower intake. It is leaking in there. The screws that hold it on are an expansion plug with a screw in them......and are basically stripped and not securing good enough.........thanks for the advice. Will let you know what I come up with. I really appreciate the advise!

One of them was missing when I bought my car. A buck-a-piece at the stealer. Available in a blister pack at most part stores for a little less. Usually called 'plastic rivets'.

Okay.....I did all of the things i could think of and what you meantioned and ran the hose over the area for about 1 hr. No leaks!
Then...........it rained hard last night and all day today......blower stopped working again.....sure enough.....water.....Geesh. Does the ac drain hose collect runoff water as well.......could this maybe be it? If so where the heck is it at. If I had confidence the dealer knew exactly what the reason for this was and could repair it in an hr or two I would take it to them. As I am over it allready. But I could see them "investigating for 3-4 even 5 hrs and a wopping Bill. Which I dont need this time of year.

At this point I am 99% sure that the water is leaking into the blower itself at this point.[/QUOTE I have a 95 and did the samething you did and got same results i know its been almost a year sence post but did any body figout this problem????? my passenger side window were that plastic cover goes THE WINDOW HAD NON OF THAT BLACK WINDOW SEAL FROM FACTORY thats when i thought i had it! I did see water leaking in from that spot with blower motor out and hose running on it it leaked right away. PLease Help

Hmm. OK. Well, I have heard that fluids can leak though the firewall. I.e, a bad master cylinder couse leak oil on parts that goes through the firewall. These fluids would then soak the floor. So, the rain might be making a similar thing happen.

I have a 2001 leaking on driver and rear driver floor and can't find the source I will try the plastic rivets on the cownl piece but doubt thats gonna be it.

Trunk takes in water real bad too!

there may be a TSB for a water leak at the tail light/trunk lid assembly on the '01s - check with your local GM dealer

i had same problem with my wifes 96 aurora. the first step i took was calling a windshield company. they came out, took out the w.shield ,reset it and leak gone. cost about 60$

Thank you very much for the info, my 2002 aurora is doing the same thing, it leaks water on the floor on the passenger floor, but the blower doesn't stop working, floor just gets wet,I think I will try the thing the one person did and have a windshield company come look, because when I go through a carwash and they spray the windshield, water does come through on the dash, not much but some, so its worth a try, I also heard of a water deflector in the front door, becuse when it leaks when it rains heavy, the carpet gets wet on the bottom of ther door on that carpet and then on the floor on the passenger side only.
