would you sue the dealer?

Hi all, i'll try to make a long story short. In Aug of 05 I purchased an 01 Impala 3.8 with 97k private sale. On the ride home from buying it the low oil pressure light came on intermittently. Initially I purchased an oil pressure sensor from the dealer and it still did it. The dealer charged me $200 initially to look at it and said it was fixed but it still happened after I picked it up. The mechanic said the pressure was ok and that it was something in the system. When I brought it back to the dealer, they told me it was a short in the instrument cluster and charged me $400 which included a new cliuster and labor to put it in. Everything has worked fine since. Last week I was replacing a power steering line and noticed that the plug that goes into the oil pressure sensor was electrical taped to the back of the motor. I untangled it and plugged it back into the sensor and the low pressure light came back on. I feel completely ripped off. Any suggestions? Thank you

Should have taken pictures of it before you hooked it back up. I would take it back and see what they say, they may be willing to deal with you now if you call them out on their crappy work.

Exactly why I never go to the dealer. Has anyone ever had a good experience with dealer work? Why do they have to do crap like that?
I would demand a refund of your $400, at least.

Re: would you sue the dealer?

I actually did take pics and I figured I would try to cool down a bit and compose myself before I go back there. I appreciate the input.

I'd string them up by a certain part of their anatomy, then beat them like a pinata until my $400 fell out.

Re: would you sue the dealer?

take the passenger side wheel off and it's right in front of you connected to the block on the rear of the motor.

I agree gm dealer technicians are not trained to repair any electrical problems also they will charge huge amounts to attempt repairs and just keep changing parts until they luck out.u pay big!

You should go see the service manager first, show him what you found and ask to get your $$ back. If he gives you a line of crap, report the dealer to the better business bureau and the DMV.

Re: would you sue the dealer?

My dealer service is corrupt! And those little surveys they do are bullcrap too. Everytime I take my car in they screw somethin else up. then I gotta take it back. They cant wait til it's out of warranty so they get me for my money. I've tried suing thme for the lemon law I didnt win.

In massachusetts you would sue them in small claims court.you do not bring vehicle back to the same people that screwed you. bring to another repair shop that will in writing state what they damaged or jury rigged to steal your money. never go back to a thief dealer. I and my friends over many years have had similar problems like yours. lemon law is rigged in the dealers favor . lemon law is a scam! When repairs are required always demand a written warrantee before work is started.
