Some Stuff From The Archives ***major 56K killer***

Not much to say about these.

First lot.
Various Life Class workshops
Ranges from 2 minute sketches to 5 minutes, to maybe half an hour. Can't really remember but you'll see what ones are what anyway.
All are A1 apart from the last two.
Medium = pencil, charcoal, chalk, bread

Flesh Studies.
All on A1
Acrylic + lots of pigmentless base medium for mixing washes.

Two Random arrangements because they've got nice shiney surfaces in them
A1
Acrylic + base medium + spit.
Fot those that know what they are, these were done during my GCSE years so that's when I was 15-16 and whoa... 12 years ago...

and some monkey heads cos monkeys are cool

ok, this is a chimp but still....

Portraits

All done on bits of board that I could find All bigger than A4, none bigger than 16" x 20"
Acrylic + medium
Time ranges from a day, to a week, to 25 minutes depending on how lucky I am.

and an unfinished one...

Yeah, I don't do rough sketching/anatomy either, but I can appreciate those who have that talent and desire.

Thanks for posting your work DM. The portraits are really nice. People tell me I should get into doing portraits, but car commissions keep me busy and happy, so I never pursued it. Maybe sometime when my boys are grown and I have nothing else to do...

Have you done any auto related art?

Re: Some Stuff From The Archives ***major 56K killer***

those sketches were done as part of a workshop.
the idea was to teach people to "see" better and more specifically, to see correct shapes, tones and proportions; hence the time restrictions and why some are "unfinished".

As for auto related.
Short, no excuses given answer = No.

Longer answer:
When I was a kid, around 12-16, all I drew was cars and planes but they all got "lost" (read as: thrown away by dear mother) when I moved house.
Since my degree, I've never really had the time to just sity down and draw and paint like I did when I was studying. When I was studying (from way back at GCSE, through A-Level through Degree) the things I was drawing and painting weren't cars.
At GCSE I was all about story telling in a painting.
At A-level was when I discovered that I had a knack for painting heads (which was when most of those above were done)
At degree, I was way too busy with all that architecture lark and the only painting I did were some more portraits for friends.

It's only recently when I've settled into work a bit that I've been able to free up some time to do stuff.
I've dusted off my bag of paints and have already prepped a couple of boards though, so as they say;
Watch this space.
