1994 buick lesabre water pump pulley
I was just given a 1994 buick lesabre that has a broken water pump pulley. I was wondering if I would have to change the whole water pump or just the pulley. And how do I go about doing this? I am a college student attending famu in tallahassee and cant afford a mechanic. They are charging me almost $400 to do this job that I know I can do myself with a little guidance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Re: 1994 buick lesabre water pump pulley
The pulley itself is just a bowl shaped thing that bolts on the water pump. It is unlikely the pulley has failed, probably the water pump, which has the bearings. Changing the water pump is not that bad, on some cars you have to loosen the power steering pump to be able to remove one of the water pump bolts.

Check out the repair guide below.
Aside from draining coolant and all that you'll have to support the engine and remove the engine mount. Not really a tough job overall if you have the tools and a clean place to work. http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm |
