This does not exactly answer your question, but it is the process I went through when I was asking the same question!
It shows photo's of the diagnostic connector on my right-hand-drive Trooper. Keep in mind that while the U.S.A. models had to support OBD-II from 1996 on, the Australian vehicles did not. Also there are some links to interesting sites about analyzers. The relevance to you will depend on whether you have the older 3-pin ALDL (Assembly Line Diagnostic Link) connector, or the 16-pin OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) connector like mine. http://forum.australia4wd.com/index.php?showtopic=7163 The bottom line for me was that I could not find any adapters or software to suit my vehicle but I did discover how to display the trouble-codes on the instrument cluster CEL (Check Engine Light) - see Post #14 in the above link.
