1994 Buick Century 3.1 Idle problem
I have an intermittent idle/acceleration problem on my 1994 Buick Century 3.1. I had a guy replace the sending unit in the gas tank and the fuel filter and it did the same thing. He suggested I replace the plugs and wires so I did that. Still the same. I also replaced the canister purge solenoid since I snapped a tube off getting the plug wires off. Still the same.
It runs fine on the road it just hesitates from a stop and occasionally the idle slows down. Not sure what to do next, Buick looked at it and it ran fine for them. The car is about to cost me more than it is worth. It only has 99K on it. Help... |

Re: 1994 Buick Century 3.1 Idle problem
Welcome to AF
Do you have a "Check Engine" light on, and if so, what codes are stored?

Re: 1994 Buick Century 3.1 Idle problem
No check engine light. Can a sending unit cause intermittent idle problems? The problem started after the guy dropped the gas tank and replaced that and the fuel filter. I am pretty sure the problem is back there somewhere but I have not done any troubleshooting.

Re: 1994 Buick Century 3.1 Idle problem
Yes, and intermittent fuel pressure issue would cause what you describe. Did he only change the fuel sending unit and not the pump, and if so why?
